Green Smoothies?

You've probably heard about green smoothies, but maybe don't know much about them..or maybe you do and drink them all the time.
If you haven't, let me tell you what I know about them :)
My husband refuses to even try a green smoothie just because they are green and because he knows that green color comes from a vegetable.

However, despite what my husband thinks, green smoothies are actually good! I think a lot of people who prefer eating strictly organic food, or want to live on a "raw" diet drink green smoothies. I drink them for breakfast just because they're good for you. I've actually found that my body craves them now, and I've only been drinking them for a couple weeks.
When I first got interested in drinking green smoothies I did some research online, while looking for some good recipes. I found a lot of information on this website. Here they talk about why green smoothies are good for you. I definitely recommend reading it! They also have some recipes, its a good website.

Green Smoothies are typically made with green leafy veggies like spinach, kale, red leaf lettuce, etc and fruit. When you make a green smoothie, you want to usually have two servings of veggies to one serving of fruit. BUT when you first start drinking them I suggest starting w/ an even amount of fruit and veggies in case you aren't too fond of the green taste right away (or even a little more fruit than veg). Once you've drank them for a bit you'll get used to the green taste, and if you're like me, you might even start to like it! You can also add oils or protein powder to these shakes. Here are a couple of my fave recipes that i've tried so far:

This one was recommended to me from a friend from work and it really is good:

ingredients:
2 cups of Kale (spinach works too)
1/2 cup of Blueberries
1/2 cup of Strawberry halves
1 TBSP Flax Oil
1 TBSP Coconut Oil
1 scoop of Chocolate Protein Powder (or half of whatever it recommends for 1 serving)
1/2 cup or less of ice
Water, Almond Milk or Soy milk for your base (whichever you prefer, I just do water for lower calories)

Throw it all in your blender until the green is as chopped up as possible.

This is not one I suggest as your first green smoothie as there is lots of green. But I LOVE this one. Once you've had a couple make this one, and you'll want to make a bigger batch. (I use a magic bullet so I'm not tempted.. ;)

A super easy and DELICIOUS green smoothie that I just put together because it was what I had at my house:

ingredients:
2 cups of Spinach
1 small Peach
The juice of 1 small Orange

Throw it all into a blender until completely blended. This a great beginner smoothie. If you add a little more spinach and half a banana that is good as well.

Easy right? There are so many things you can do with green smoothies. It makes an excellent breakfast since you can switch it up so easily, you don't get sick of them. If you just google green smoothies you find TONS of recipes. If you think you don't have time to make these every morning, or you don't want to keep tons of veggies in your fridge all the time, I found THIS cool idea on pintrest.

Tell us what your favorite Green Smoothie recipes is!

Skinny Bitch

Okay, you finally get to hear from the last of us! ME!

I'm Britney, 22 years old and a Washington native. After high school, I played college basketball at Peninsula College in Port Angeles, WA. That is where I met my husband, who is from Utah. After my two years in PC, we decided to move down here.

In high school I ran cross-country and played basketball. While I got made fun of a lot for "running for fun" and was constantly mocked and asked, "how on earth could you do that?!" I'm finding that running is quite the fad and most of the people that made fun and mocked me are into it now.

Unlike Mae and Breeann, running is NOT my favorite type of workout! In fact, most times I really hate it. When I finally make myself get up and run, I'm instantly brought back to my high school cross country days and remember the grueling CRAP I went through. But then I remember that no one is yelling at me to "RUN FASTER!" or "Catch up to the next girl!" and then it's a little more enjoyable.

I really enjoy weight lifting, basketball drills, and plyometrics. Stuff that gets you in shape quick! I'm all about instant results, but don't worry, I'm not one of those people that's checking myself out in the mirror and flexing. If I do that, I make sure that people aren't around ;)

Hopefully, you will be able to relate to one of us and find some kind of motivation. The hardest part about working out is the start! But just think, even if you're just taking a walk around the block or spending a half hour on a treadmill, you're lapping everyone else on the couch!

SO GET YOUR ASS UP AND DO SOMETHING!

Hellllllllo There!

I'm Megan
I'm 24 years old and am a mother of 3 beautiful children. My husband and I have been married going on 5 Years!!!
I enjoy taking an hour a day to myself to sweat my guts out.
My favorite being a nice long Run outside in this beautiful weather, and then a killer AB workout after words...

I started Running in High School when i joined the Track team. I found it was a way for me to release stress and anxiety from a long day of school. Once I started having kids it became hard for me to keep it up. That is why I am trying my hardest to get back on track!!!

I am so excited for this blog to help myself and others like me get in shape and stay healthy! It should be one of the number one things in life!! If you have Children like me, you know that being Pregnant can take a toll on your body. It can be hard and time consuming to work out with little ones at home. We gotta do it though and take time for ourselves to stay healthy!!! Even if its only a half hour to an hour a day!!

Some of my goals are to get in better shape and just all around be more healthy!
My long term goal is to Run in a Marathon and complete it.
I cant wait to get to that point in my life so i can look back and see how worth it it really is to stay motivated and GET FIT!

What up?!

I'm BreeAnn.

I'm 23 years old, I've been married for almost 3 years, and my husband and I moved to Texas about 3 weeks ago.
My favorite work out is going for a good old fashion run.
You can read about how I got started running here.
My goal is basically to get in shape and be healthy.
Long term, I want to run a full marathon and have abs.

Big dreams baby! The first one is a little much. But freak, I'd take it!

Last september I ran my first half marathon in Moab, UT and it was awesome. I kept running for a while after that but kinda fell out of the habit for a few months while we were in the process of moving. Since I got to Texas, I've started working out everyday and trying to eat healthy.

I'm planning on documenting the struggles and success I have while working towards being stronger and healthier.

Wish me luck!
